High School Football Results: EWG 6 Classical 0

The football team defeated Classical on Saturday morning by the score of 6 to 0. Al Georgio scored the only touchdown for the knights on a 12 yard run. Georgio carried the ball 30 times for 175 yards. Adam Sweeney carried the ball 17 times for 75 yards also. Interceptions were made by Kyle Johansen (2) Al Georgio, and Mattie Varone. Kyle Johansen and Joe Ferle shared the quarterback duties leading the knights inside the Classical five yard line on two other occasions. The knights were unable to come away with any points both times. Adam Sweeney provided a much needed spark in the fourth quarter when he raced through the Classical line on a perfectly executed fake punt. The defense won the game for the knights by keeping Classical scoreless throughout the contest. The defense consists of: Joel Lake, Kyle Johansen, Freddy Seymour, Jimmy Read, Ryan Rawnsley, Brian Philbert, Ryan Lacombe, Al Georgio, Adam Sweeney, Rob Prashaw, Mattie Varone, and Joe Ferle.
The knights finished the regular season in first place because they had the least amount of defensive points allowed between the games involving EWG, Middletown, and Hope. This means that they will play North Providence at Coventry High School at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2008. The knights next game is the annual Thanksgiving Game at Chariho at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 27th.
