Something about the Number 3!

The Girls Soccer Team beat Tiverton 2-1 this afternoon for their 3rd straight DII Championship title! This win marks a sweep for the EWG teams in finals play this weekend. They took home both soccer titles and the volleyball title!

The Girls Soccer Team will be going for their 3rd State Championship after beating North Smithfield in the semi-finals 5-1 on Saturday afternoon. They will play the Tiverton Tigers at 2:00pm on Monday Nov.12th at RIC!

The Volleyball Team took down the East Greenwich Avengers in 3 straight games to win their DII semi-final match on Thursday night! They will play for the DII Championship on Saturday Nov. 10th at 2:30pm in Keaney Gym at URI.

Homecoming Success!

Despite the mist and rain it was a successful Homecoming day for Knights. The Girls Soccer team started the day off with a 2-0 win over D I East Greenwich! Next up was the annual Boys Soccer Varsity vs Alumni game. Surprisingly for the 3rd year in a row the game ended in a tie! The day was capped off with a 33 -14 win for the football team over Scituate! Congratulations to all the teams!!

The Scarlet Knights took on PCD/Wheeler/Juanita Sanchez on Saturday morning. The score was tied  36-36 at the half. The Knights defense came back strong in the second half to win 65-42!!! Most points ever scored at EWG. CONGRATULATIONS!!

Track Power

Congratulations to Richard Satchwill and Zach Hurd, who represented EWG in yesterday's RI Interscholastic League Varsity State Meet. Richard had an excellent performance in the 400-meter run, finishing in 52.5 seconds.  The big news is for Zach Hurd, who is now the reigning state champion in the javelin.  His throw of 190' feet (even) is 14' feet better than his own personal best and is a new school record. This performance caps a long season of personal bests for Zach, who broke the school record four times, and swept the Southern Division, Class C, and State Championships.  Zach goes on to represent the state of RI in the New England Outdoor Track championships, to be held in Saco, Maine next weekend.  Zach is seeded third in New England.  
Good luck to Zach!  

Boy's Volleyball

Congrats to the volleyball team on their victory over Scituate yesterday.  Matt Sevegny had 15 kills and Josh Crompton had 14 kills.  Brian McDonough had 38 assists.


Senior night for the boy's volleyball team is Thursday, May 31st at 6pm. JV begins at 4:30pm. Come cheer on your team for their last regular season game!

The Golf team picked up their 1st victory of the season beating Coventry 173 to 190.  Leading the way were Jordan Dunford with 41, Lee Stamas 43, Ian Geyer 44, and Ben Andrews 45.

Invitational Meet This Saturday

EWG Boy’s outdoor track team held its 4th and final regular season meet on Monday , here at the Stephen Anderson track.  Out boys continue to break records.  Zach Hurd broke his previous record in the javelin with a throw of 169 feet, 9 inches.  Zach has automatically qualified as a javelin competitor at the Rhode Island state meet in June.   The boys 4x400m relay team broke the EWG record set back in 2007 with a combined time of 3:54.3.  Tony Tavares scored a first place finish in the shot put with a throw of 38 feet, 11 inches.  Sam Cote scored a personal best in the 100 meter dash in a time of 14.3 seconds.  Good luck to our Knights as we enter the championship season.  Come to the invitational this weekend, where our athletes will compete against the best runners, throwers and jumpers from around our state. Approximately 25—30 different schools will be represented in this meet, beginning 9 am this Saturday here at the Stephen J. Anderson  Memorial Sports Complex.

Girl's Track News

Great job girls track on their outstanding performance Monday at the home meet.  Morgan Hart broke the school record and broke a personal best with a pole vault height of 11 feet.  Tori Ebert also did well, placing 1st in shot, 2nd in discus with a personal best throw of 101 feet and 5th in hammer.  Emily Paglianini  placed 4th in the high jump and Morgan Hart placed 2nd.  Lindsey Mccaron placed 6th in the long jump.  Haley Bell placed 5th in the javelin throws, Morgan Iannuccilli placed 4th and Tori Ebert placed 6th. Morgan Iannuccilli placed 3rd in the 100 meter dash, Shania Fenton placed 4th.  Great job girls!

Sophomore pitcher, Andrea Artisani, had a no hitter with 16 strikeouts, 3 walks and no past balls or wild pitches in the Softball team's 4-0 win over Johnston. Catcher Maddie St. Andrade called the entire game and got the game winning hit. Other big hitters were Breana Hopkins with a double and Shannon Laiho with an RBI triple. Nice game , Ladies!

The Cheer team will compete for a State Title on Sunday, March 11th. Their competition starts at 3:45pm at The Providence Career & Technical Academy. Come out and support the team! GOOD LUCK, Ladies!!!

Little League Registration

 EWGLL is still accepting registrations for the 2012 Season. Tryouts for our competitive levels including Minors AA, AAA, and Majors will be held on March 18 and 19th. The draft for all levels will take place the week of March 19th. Children wishing to be considered for our competitive levels must be registered and present themselves for tryouts on the 18th or 19th.
 Players participating in Tee Ball, Minors Level A, Juniors, Seniors, and Big League are not required to tryout.
 It is important that we receive registrations early so we can determine how many teams will need to be formed. This will ensure that every player is placed at the correct level which ultimately leads to a more enjoyable experience.
 You can register several different ways:
 1.       Complete the attached form and mail it along with payment to EWGLL, PO Box 371, Exeter, RI 02822
 2.       Visit us on Saturday, March 10th from 8:00am to 2pm at the Junior Senior High School.

PEP RALLY

The Cheer team will be holding a Pep Rally on Thursday, Mar. 8th at 7:30pm in the High School gym. Come see the team perform their full competition routine as they get ready to head to States on Sunday! GOOD LUCK, Ladies!!!

The Varsity Cheer Team won the small school division at the RICCA Competition on Sunday afternoon! Congratulations, Ladies!!

Girls Basketball in the Semis!

After a win on Mar.1 against Ponaganset and a win on Sunday over Barrington the Girls Basketball Team is headed to the D I Semi-final on Wed. Mar. 7th at 8:00pm at RIC!! Come out a support the team! Go Knights!!

GREAT WEEKEND for Basketball & Wrestling!!!

The Boys Basketball team had another EPIC win over Prout in the first round of the play-offs! They won in 3 overtimes in front of a capacity crowd at South Kingstown High School on Saturday night! They play North Providence on Tuesday Feb. 28th at 6:00pm at Bryant University!

The Wrestling team placed 7th at the State Championships this weekend! Individual winners were Joe Ricciutti 4th, Carl Neff 3rd and Andrew and Christian La Brie both finished 1st in their weight classes!

The Boys Basketball team will play Prout at Prout on Friday, Feb. 24th at 7:00pm in the first round of the play-offs! Come out and support the team! GO KNIGHTS!!

Wrestling Championship On The Line

Join the wrestling team Thursday night at 6pm when they host PCD and Middletown. Winning here will clinch back to back Division 2 championships. It's also Senior Night, so come support your wrestlers at their last home meet.

Calling all EWG Sports Fans - parents, grandparents, alumni, coaches, community members ! The EWG Boosters Club is looking for representation from all of our 21 sports teams. We meet monthly for about an hour and a half to discuss how we can improve and enhance the sports experience at EWG. Please join us at our next meeting - Monday, Feb. 6th, 7:00pm in the Teacher's room. Looking forward to seeing you!!

EWG Hoops Fundraiser

Our annual fundraiser is taking place Saturday February 11th at the Quonset “O” Club. This is our only fundraising event of the year, so we hope you can join us. The cost is $30.00 per person and includes dinner, music and a very funny comedian for our entertainment. From our previous fundraising efforts we have been able to not only help with the costs of running the league, but we have been able to upgrade and improve the school facilities. Over the past 4 years or so we have purchased and installed the adjustable height backboards at Metcalf, purchase and install the new scoreboards in the Sr High, purchased the Official Scorers Table for the Sr High as well as the “EWG logo’d” seating for the Jr High gym. We hope you can join us on the 11th……..we are also looking for donations for our silent and live auctions. The Boys Basketball team and the Cheer team will celebrate their seniors on Friday, Feb. 3rd. JV game is at 5:30, Senior recognition at 6:45 and the Varsity game is at 7:00. Come out and cheer on the seniors and the teams!

Checking Out Hockey

The WW-EWG Hockey Team is in the midst of a competitive season. Last weekend, the team lost 3-2 to East Providence, but prevailed 4-3 over Scituate. The next game is against Woonsocket on January 21, 9pm at West Warwick Ice Rink.
