Tennis Players make All-Division Team

Congratulations to the following Boy’s Tennis players on their selection to the All-Division Team.

Freshman Girls @ Freshman States

Congratulations to all the freshmen girls who completed in the Freshmen States.

Lauren Demattio threw a personal best in both the shot put and javelin. Lindsey Demattio had a strong performances in both the disc and shot put. Lauren Breene had a strong showing in the shot put and threw a personal best in the hammer. Caroline Humphrey threw herself into the mix and ran a stunning 400 race. Congratulations to all freshmen for participating.

Baseball Team Victory

The baseball team defeated Prout by the score of 4 to 3 in eight innings yesterday. Prout is in first place, and was 15 and 1 before the game. The Knights were trailing 3 to 1 in the bottom of the last inning when Matt Varone hit a two run home run tying the game at 3. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Joe Ferle hit a double, and Anthony Tortalano followed with the game winning hit. Mike Faris and Joe Bourgois pitched for the knights. Awesome job guys!!!!!

Boy's Track at Southern Division Championship Meet

The boy’s team competed at Southern Division Championship. Jordan Bell threw a career best 145 to earn 5th place honors. Brett Hughes ran a season’s best 10:07 in the 3000 meters good for 7th. Conor Breagy ran a 2:07 in the 800 meter to earn 7th place. Josh Ritter threw a career best 39 feet. Anthony D’Antuono, Matt French, Rob Prashaw, Andrew Sullivan, Cameron Otten, ran well for EWG. James and Andrew Read had personal bests in the Hammer, Javelin and Shot. Rob Prashaw and James Sevigny tried their best in their events.

Girl's Track at the Southern Division Championship Meet

Congratulations to the girls track team for their performances at the Southern Division Championship meet. Lauren Woloohoijan came in 6th place in shot put with a personal record of 28ft. Rosie Read placed 4th in the shot put and also won the hammer throw. The 4x800 and 4 x 400 place 6th overall. Taylor Hart and Shelby Ashworth broke their personal records in the 300 meter hurdles. Renae Miozzi ran a personal best of 11:48 in the 3000. Great job ladies!

Girl's Track Rocks the Schomp


Girl's Track News

Congratulations to the following members of the girls track team for their performances at the Schomp Invitational Meet on Saturday. Sophia Branca, Emily Humphrey, Megan Bresnahan and Amy Cunningham ran in the 4 by 800 meter race, taking third. Rosie Read came in third place for the hammer throw, Kelsey Greene came in eighth place in the Triple Jump, Emily Humphrey placed fifth in the 800 and Lauren Woloohojian had a strong performance in the shot put.

Boy's Track News

Stephen McMahon won the long jump during yesterday’s track meet against Westerly. Rob Prashaw had a personal best in the discus, shot put and 100 meter. Jordan Bell also had a personal best in the 300m hurdles. Conor Breagy ran a season’s best 4:33 in the 1500. Matt French, Cam Otten also scored points for EWG.

Girl's track team members break personal records

Congratulations to the girls track team for an excellent meet at Westerly on Wednesday. The meet was against Coventry and Westerly. Most girls broke their personal records and did a great job.

State Tennis Tournament Qualifier

Congratulations to Ryan Gouveia who qualified for the state tennis tournament by winning the qualifying match on Saturday at Slater Park. Good luck to Ryan as he represents EWG at the All-State Tennis Tournament this weekend.

Rhode Island Interscholastic League Sportsmanship Award

Congratulations to the Boy’s Basketball team for being awarded the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Sportsmanship Award for Division 1 for this past season. Teams were judged and selected based upon a specific set of sportsmanship criteria. In the estimation of the coaches, the team, school and community displayed those responsibilities associated with good sportsmanship. The quality of sportsmanship displayed at athletic contests reflects the leadership provided by the school administration, coaches, spectators and parents. Great job!
