Twice is ... NICE!!!!




The Knights scored early and often to beat #1 seed Middletown 42-28 in the D IV Championship on Sunday afternoon. Al Georgio scored 4 TDs and ran for over 200 yards. He was named MVP of the game. Adam Sweeney and Brian Philibert also contributed TDs. Congratulations to the whole team on their back to back Championships!!

THREE - PEAT!!!


The Knights are headed back to the D IV Super Bowl for the the third consecutive year! The team beat the Purple of Classical last night 22-20. EWG was up 6-0 at the half. The Purple came back in the 3rd and went up 20-6. The Knights fired back with 16 points in the 4th for the win! The team will defend its D IV title against Middletown on Sunday, Dec. 6th at 3:00pm at Cranston Stadium. GO KNIGHTS!!!

Knights reclaim the Turkey Day Cup!


On a very muddy field and playing in front of a capacity crowd, the Knights beat the Chariho Chargers 14-0 in the annual Thanksgiving Day match up! Adam Sweeney and Al Georgio were responsible for the 2 EWG touchdowns. The Knights season continues with a play-off game on Tuesday, Dec. 1st @6:00pm against Classical at Conley Stadium.

Knights headed to Play-offs!


The Football team celebrated Senior day on Saturday with a 22-18 win over Central Falls! Touchdowns were scored by Adam Sweeney and Al Georgio. The win puts the Knights in 3rd place in D IV and earns them a place in the play-offs! Thursday is the Annual Turkey Day game at home against Chariho. Come see the team play their last home game of the season. Game time is 10:00am.

Cross Country Honors

Five members of the EWG Boy's and Girl's cross country teams will be honored by the Rhode Island Track Coaches Association at it's annual banquet.  Renae Miozzi will receive All Class and All Division honors along with Amy Cunningham and Brett Hughes.  Steve Wilson and Devon Pignataro will receive the Coach Awards.  Congratulations on a great season!

Girls Soccer Second in DIV II


The Lady Knights took on the Sentinels of Smithfield in the finals of DIV II on Sunday. They lost 3-0 and settled for second place. The Knights had an outstanding year! Congratulations Ladies!

Sadly, Defeat


In a hard fought game, the Boys Soccer team lost last night in their semi-final game to Tiverton 1-0. Congratulations to the boys on an outstanding season!

Girl’s Varsity Soccer

Congratulations to the Girl’s Varsity Soccer team for their win last night over the undefeated Mount St. Charles.  The score was 3-2 with goals scored by Haley Kenyon and two goals by Lexi Clements.  Come support the girl’s in the first ever finals game in EWG soccer history.  The game is at RIC on Sunday at 2:00pm.

Girl’s JV Volleyball: Division 2 State Champs

Congratulations to the Girl’s JV Volleyball team for winning the Division 2 State Championship this past Saturday at the West Warwick Civic Center.  The Knights were led by Taylor Matook who won tournament MVP.  Haley Bookbinder and Paige Johnson also received all tournament honors.  The Knights played solid all day and then played great in  the playoffs, beating previously undefeated Mr. Saint Charles in the semi-finals and then defending state champion Westerly in the finals.  Excellent job girls!

Knights rout PCD/Wheeler!


The football team beat PCD/Wheeler 43-20 on a warm Halloween afternoon. Al Georgio rushed for over 200 yards and scored 3 touchdowns. Adam Sweeney added another 100 yards and 2 touchdowns. Keleigh Greenhalgh added the 6th touchdown. The team travels to Hope on Saturday. The game starts at 2:00pm.

Boys Soccer Update

The Boy's soccer team has recently finished off the regular season. They finished the overall season with a record of 7 wins 5 losses and 2 ties. They are now on to the playoffs and will be playing at St. Raphael's at 4:00. This game will be taking place on Friday, October 30th. Everyone get out there to cheer on the guys! GO EWG!!!

Girl's Volleyball: Playoff Time

The girl's volleyball team had their final regular season game last night. They ended the season with a record of 14-2 on the regular season, and 16-2 overall including non-league games. Great job girls! The team is on to their Quarter-Final Match against the winner of the upcoming Scituate vs. Mount Hope game. This game will take place on November 5th at 6:30 at EWG. Everyopne come out to show your EWG support and cheer on the girls to victory!!

Girl's Volleyball at 14-2

Congratulations to the girl’s volleyball team who defeated Narragansett last night on senior night.  The team improved to 14-2.  The team was led by Seniors Jess Ferle with 3 digs and 3 aces, Seanna Poirier with 7 aces and 10 assists, and Nicole Kennedy with 3 digs.  Be sure to catch the Knights November 5th when they host a quarter final playoff match.

Knights defeat The Vikings


The rain held off long enough for the Knights to take down D I Rogers 14-6 on Saturday afternoon. Touchdowns were scored by AJ Huber and Adam Sweeney. Next Saturday, Oct. 31st, the team hosts PCD/Wheeler at 2:00pm.

Boys Soccer celebrates Senior Day


Despite the rain on Saturday morning the Boys Soccer team hosted an Alumni game. Seniors Michael, Will, Oliver and David along with their parents were recognised at half time. Congratulations to the Seniors and Good Luck to the team in their post season play!

Girls Soccer Senior Day



On Sat. Oct. 17th the Girls Soccer team will play the Alumni at 11:00 am. The Senior players and their parents will be recognized at half-time of the game. At 1:00pm the new field will be dedicated and at 2:00pm the football team takes on North Providence.

Girls Tennis Senior Day


The last home match of the season is Thursday, Oct. 15th against St. Rays. Come help the girls celebrate their winning season. Senior recognition begins at 3:00pm  followed by the match at 3:30pm.

Knights Win !


 Adam Sweeney scored 3 touchdowns and Al Georgio added the fourth  in a 30-6 victory over Scituate on Saturday. They take on North Providence this Saturday (Oct. 17th) at home. The game starts at 2:00pm.

Rain Out

Last Saturday was homecoming weekend, and there had been a scheduled football game with Central Falls. There was going to be a special Recognition Ceremony for the efforts and donations from the community. Unfortunately “mother nature” had other plans, and the game got moved to Sunday. The rain was so abundant on the field Sunday that the field was saturated and unsuitable for a game, which got canceled. The homecoming game got moved to Saturday November 21, 2009 at about 1:00pm. However there will be a game this weekend at 2:00pm, against undefeated Scituate. Good luck to the team.

Exeter-West Greenwich moved to 7-1 with a 3-0 vicotory over Pilgrim in a Division II match.  The Scarlet Knights were led by Seanna Porier (12 aces, 8 assists, 4 kills), Meg Bresnahan (5 kils) and Hanna Anderson (9 assists, 3 aces, 2 kills).

Congratulations to the girl’s soccer team on their win against Lincoln. Hayley Kenyon knocked in a header with 20 minutes left off a corner kick from Kathleen Rafanelli to score the game’s only goal and give the Knights a 1-0 win.

Fan Bus to the Football Game

There will be a FAN BUS for anyone interested in attending the football game at North Smithfield Friday evening. The bus leaves at 5:00 and the game begins at 7:00pm. See Mr. Alves or Mrs. Neff if you plan on taking the fan bus.

Girl's Soccer Team Scores First Victory On The New Track and Field!

The new sports season has begun with opening day of the new track and field! The girls soccer team was the first to play an official game on the field. They beat Westerly 4-0! The cheer team, football team and boys soccer team were there to cheer them on.

Fall Athletics

Fall sports at the high school are about to begin. The start of the season for all fall sports is August 17th.  All athletes are required to present a copy of their most recent physical examination to the head coach prior to participating.  Coaches will pass out other required forms on the first day.  Here is the schedule for all sports on August 17th:

Freshman Girls @ Freshman States

Congratulations to all the freshmen girls who completed in the Freshmen States.

Lauren Demattio threw a personal best in both the shot put and javelin. Lindsey Demattio had a strong performances in both the disc and shot put. Lauren Breene had a strong showing in the shot put and threw a personal best in the hammer. Caroline Humphrey threw herself into the mix and ran a stunning 400 race. Congratulations to all freshmen for participating.

Baseball Team Victory

The baseball team defeated Prout by the score of 4 to 3 in eight innings yesterday. Prout is in first place, and was 15 and 1 before the game. The Knights were trailing 3 to 1 in the bottom of the last inning when Matt Varone hit a two run home run tying the game at 3. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Joe Ferle hit a double, and Anthony Tortalano followed with the game winning hit. Mike Faris and Joe Bourgois pitched for the knights. Awesome job guys!!!!!

Boy's Track at Southern Division Championship Meet

The boy’s team competed at Southern Division Championship. Jordan Bell threw a career best 145 to earn 5th place honors. Brett Hughes ran a season’s best 10:07 in the 3000 meters good for 7th. Conor Breagy ran a 2:07 in the 800 meter to earn 7th place. Josh Ritter threw a career best 39 feet. Anthony D’Antuono, Matt French, Rob Prashaw, Andrew Sullivan, Cameron Otten, ran well for EWG. James and Andrew Read had personal bests in the Hammer, Javelin and Shot. Rob Prashaw and James Sevigny tried their best in their events.

Girl's Track at the Southern Division Championship Meet

Congratulations to the girls track team for their performances at the Southern Division Championship meet. Lauren Woloohoijan came in 6th place in shot put with a personal record of 28ft. Rosie Read placed 4th in the shot put and also won the hammer throw. The 4x800 and 4 x 400 place 6th overall. Taylor Hart and Shelby Ashworth broke their personal records in the 300 meter hurdles. Renae Miozzi ran a personal best of 11:48 in the 3000. Great job ladies!

Girl's Track Rocks the Schomp


Girl's Track News

Congratulations to the following members of the girls track team for their performances at the Schomp Invitational Meet on Saturday. Sophia Branca, Emily Humphrey, Megan Bresnahan and Amy Cunningham ran in the 4 by 800 meter race, taking third. Rosie Read came in third place for the hammer throw, Kelsey Greene came in eighth place in the Triple Jump, Emily Humphrey placed fifth in the 800 and Lauren Woloohojian had a strong performance in the shot put.

Boy's Track News

Stephen McMahon won the long jump during yesterday’s track meet against Westerly. Rob Prashaw had a personal best in the discus, shot put and 100 meter. Jordan Bell also had a personal best in the 300m hurdles. Conor Breagy ran a season’s best 4:33 in the 1500. Matt French, Cam Otten also scored points for EWG.

Girl's track team members break personal records

Congratulations to the girls track team for an excellent meet at Westerly on Wednesday. The meet was against Coventry and Westerly. Most girls broke their personal records and did a great job.

State Tennis Tournament Qualifier

Congratulations to Ryan Gouveia who qualified for the state tennis tournament by winning the qualifying match on Saturday at Slater Park. Good luck to Ryan as he represents EWG at the All-State Tennis Tournament this weekend.

Rhode Island Interscholastic League Sportsmanship Award

Congratulations to the Boy’s Basketball team for being awarded the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Sportsmanship Award for Division 1 for this past season. Teams were judged and selected based upon a specific set of sportsmanship criteria. In the estimation of the coaches, the team, school and community displayed those responsibilities associated with good sportsmanship. The quality of sportsmanship displayed at athletic contests reflects the leadership provided by the school administration, coaches, spectators and parents. Great job!

Boy's Volleyball Team Digs Up Another Win

Congratulations to the boy’s volleyball team for their two wins against Warwick Vets and Barrington. The knights are now 9-2. Lead hitters were Paul Fullmer with 11 kills and 7 blocks and Sean Livsey with 10 kills and I block. Steve McMahon led the team with 27 assists.

On Monday Conor Breagy set a school record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:07. Jordan Bell won the Javelin throw in his first meet with a distance of 120 feet. Josh Ritter came in 2nd in the Shot Put and Rob Prashaw came in 3rd. Cameron Otten, Trevor Tougas and James Sevegny also scored points for EWG.

Baseball Team Wins

The EWG Baseball team beat Classical 6-5 yesterday. The next game is at 4:00pm today against Mt. Pleasant.

Boys Track

The EWG Boys Track team showed promise against East Greenwich yesterday. Josh Ritter, Rob Prashaw and Andrew Read swept the Shot Put. Conner Breagy took 4th in the 1500, and Rob Prashaw ran a blistering 13.1 seconds in the 100. Cameron Otten earned a point in the 400. John Lamphere also earned a point. Great job team.

Boys Volleyball Team Digs In

Congratulations to the boy’s volleyball team on their win against Barrington. Paul Fullmer continues to dominate the offense with 14 kills and 8 blocks. Sean Livsey and Zach Barrett contributed w/6 kills each. Stephen McMahon had 19 assists, 19 serves, 12 digs and 4 kills. Mike McDonough had 8 assists and 3 kills. Emerson Bookbinder kept the ball alive with 18 digs and also had 13 serves.

Boys volleyball team wins again.

Congratulations to the boy’s volleyball team on their win against Warwick Vets. The team swept vets 25-17, 25-20, 25-17. Paul Fullmer & Zach Barrett led the offense with 15 kills and 7 kills. Sean Livsey added another 6 kills. Steve McMahon had 19 assists. Emerson Bookbinder led the defense with 17 digs. The team will be playing in Barrington on Friday night at 5:30. Come on out and support the team.

Congratulations to the boy’s volleyball team as they beat Westerly in their season opener: 25-13, 25-16, 25-10. Leading the way to victory was Zach Barrett with 7 kills & 1 block, Paul Fullmer with 4 kills & 5 blocks, David Walesko with 4 kills & 4 service aces. Mike McDonough had 17 assists. Contributing on defense was Emerson Bookbinder and Nick Eastwood. Come see the team play on Wednesday night at 6:00pm at home!
